lyrics
The darkest hour, where fields reap blight
the endless hunger, and blackened skies
a land of rot, where children wither
and mother’s weep, a countless sorrow
Hearts grow faint
and hope decays
the failure of a God
The plough drags on the bones of the fallen,
the blood seeps to the soil of poison.
scorned wretches of what used to be human,
pale faces in a shroud of torment.
A vulgar curse, on blackened shores
a time for death, to claim what’s hers
diseased and starved, a brewing corpse
left for dead, on farms of ash
The stench of decay
abandoning faith
Hunger spreads to the edge of the isle,
disease rampant and the rations vile.
walking corpses their souls are abandoned,
by a god that leaves children in famine.
the island rots while the people starve,
the crows feast on the Holocaust of celts.
ashes fall on the hopeless soil,
removing families from this mortal coil.

I saw these gents open the evening for DWeF in Trier some weeks ago. The vocalist seemed terribly shy between songs and then went full-on beastmode on the vocals again; him overcoming this was one of the most metal things I have ever seen. Vi Overlevde is, excuse this, bizarrely good. Not too posty, but still with a remarkable edge and a pretty unique feel to it. Maybe I'm still carried away by the live performance, but alas! This is great. Ensomhet is... beyond words. Kom til meg! David Fischer

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ

A variety of classic metal sounds rooted in and held down by a blackmetal backbone. YomaB. beat me to the word unique, but that is a key descriptor here. Good work! Slug.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
